This was a proud moment for brewery owner Lawrence Washington - the day on which he was finally able to have a pint of his own beer, from his own brewery, on sale in his local pub. A particularly special bottle of vintage cask strength Caol Ila (a fine Islay malt whisky for those who don't know) which had been saved for this day was opened later that night!

The first commercial beer from Bragdy Mŵs Piws / Purple Moose Brewery was produced on 14th June. This was a one-off special pale ale to make sure that everything works as it should and will be called, appropriately, "No.1". The following day we brewed the first production beer, Cwrw Madog / Madog's Ale followed on the 21st by Cwrw Glaslyn / Glaslyn Ale.

Once the first two beers had fermented the staff enjoyed a first tasting. They both met with our approval and there was much rejoicing! (No minstrels were eaten during the making of this beer.)

"No.1" and Cwrw Madog are currently finding their way into local pubs and should be generally available during the following week. Go to What's Brewing? to see where you can find it.

Below you can see in pictures the production of "No.1".
