THE NEWS ARCHIVES November 2006 27/11/06 PURPLE MOOSE PICKS UP AWARDS AT CHAMPION BEER OF WALES COMPETITION 2006 The Purple Moose Brewery now has awards for each of its four regular beers having picked up two at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival in Cardiff last Friday (24/11/06). Cwrw Glaslyn / Glaslyn Ale was entered in the 'Best Bitters' category and Ochr Tywyll y Mŵs / Dark Side of the Moose in the 'Strong Mild & Old Ales' category of the Champion Beer of Wales competition. We were thoroughly delighted that both beers won their categories. These latest awards underline the reputation we have built for the quality and consistency of our whole beer range. Congratulations are due to Charlie and the guys at Otley Brewery who scooped the Champion Beer of Wales prize for their 8% ABV barley wine 'O8' - a thoroughly deserved win! On a final note, if the person who stole the Dark Side pump clip from the hand pump on the bar at the GWBCF in Cardiff on Friday evening is reading this, next time you attempt that try thinking first. The pump clip may look nice and shiny in your collection but it is even more useful where it belongs - on the bar. Not only does this behaviour make it difficult for our beer to be seen by the public but it also causes headaches for the staff who put a lot of time and effort into the festival - for your benefit. 21/11/06 GREAT WELSH BEER & CIDER FESTIVAL 2006 Don't forget the Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival in Cardiff this week. It runs from Thursday evening to Saturday evening and has over 150 cask ales on offer. Purple Moose Brewery will have Cwrw Eryri, Cwrw Glaslyn and Dark Side of the Moose available on draught as well as Cwrw Madog and Merry X-Moose in bottles. This year we are in the 'Champion Beer of Wales' competition for the first time now that we have been brewing for over a year. Cwrw Glaslyn and Dark Side of the Moose will both be battling against other top Welsh beers for this year's title. For further details of the event click here.
Following this week's media coverage regarding Welsh Dragon Sausages and the shocking revelation that they are made from pork, not Welsh Dragons we would like to make it absolutely clear that Purple Moose Brewery's beers do not in fact contain, or are in any way made from Purple Moose. Instead they are created from the more traditional ingredients of water, malted barley, hops and yeast. We would like to apologise to anyone for whom this may come as a complete surprise and who may feel that they have been mislead over the true nature of our beer. |
