CHAMPION!

Cwrw Eryri / Snowdonia Ale has won 'Overall Champion' at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) West Region Beer Competition. At the same competition last year Cwrw Madog won joint bronze in the 'bitters' category. Now improving on this success our delicious summer ale, Cwrw Eryri, won Gold in the 'bitters' category and then went on to be the overall winner of the competition. This will now go forward to be judged in the SIBA National Beer Competition next March.

Sixty different beers were entered in the competition from twenty seven breweries covering Wales, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and the Isle of Man. The judging was carried out by people from different aspects of the industry from fellow brewers to hop merchants and other suppliers to the brewing trade, all experienced beer tasters.

We are extremely proud of our success at the brewery, particularly as we have only been brewing for fourteen months. Purple Moose director and brewer Lawrence Washington knew from the first brew that Cwrw Eryri was something special but winning this award for it still came as quite a shock! Photos of the presentation will follow shortly.

It has been decided that Cwrw Eryri, which had been planned as just a summer beer, will now be available all year round.

This great news for the brewery came at the end of a week in which we produced our 100th brew.
