DARK SIDE OF THE MOOSE - GOLD IN 'STRONG MILD & OLD ALE' CATEGORY, CAMRA CHAMPION WINTER BEER OF BRITAIN COMPETITION 2008

Dark Side of the Moose has done it again, this time winning Gold in the 'Strong Mild & Old Ale' category at the CAMRA Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition 2008. The competition was held yesterday as part of the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester.

Lawrence Washington and Ian Furness, both the Purple Moose brewers, were in attendance for the results of the competition and were delighted to pick up yet another top award for this fantastic dark ale, and the second major national award for the brewery within six months.

Don't forget to celebrate St. Dwynwen's Day on 25th January with a pint of Purple Moose's Cwrw Santes Dwynwen / Saint Dwynwen's Ale. It is a 4.1% abv. deep red coloured best bitter. For colour and a full body a blend of pale ale malt, dark crystal malt and a hint of roasted barley has been used. A delicate mix of Pioneer and Goldings hops were added to the brew for bittering, with the aroma taken care of by the wonderful Polish Lubelski hops.

This special beer will be going out to pubs across North Wales during the coming week. It will also be available at the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester next week (see below).

CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival 2008

Purple Moose Brewery's beers will be featured at the National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester for the first time this year. The event takes place from 16th-19th January at New Century Hall, Manchester and will have available, among others, Dark Side of the Moose and Cwrw Santes Dwynwen / Saint Dwynwen's Ale, our January special.

The event also hosts the CAMRA Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition.
