An article on the brewery proposal was featured in yesterday's Daily Post (21st Oct.) on page 16 under the heading "Beer drinkers toast plans to launch brewery". This has been reproduced with permission. Click here. One of the beer names in the article should read "Purple Moose's Festive Antlers", not Festive Anglers!

There will also be an article in tomorrow's Cambrian News announcing the approval of the planning application.

An offer has been made on a building in Porthmadog and the planning application for change of use to a micro-brewery has been submitted to Gwynedd council. The building is part of the premises that was formerly Gwynedd Farmers, in Madoc Street, Porthmadog. Some objections have been raised by local residents, as one might expect for such a proposal, however steps have been taken to reassure people of the minimal environmental impact of the brewery. The outcome of the planners' decision should be known by late October.

The planning proposal has made the headlines of this week's Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald, raising the profile of the brewery in North Wales. Click here for the full story.

A complete 10 Barrel brewery plant has been located, for possible use in the Purple Moose Brewery, from a brewery in Scotland which is expanding. This will be available later this summer once the current owners have commissioned their new, larger (that's larger, not lager) plant.

Meanwhile negotiations are ongoing to secure a site for the brewery in Porthmadog, Gwynedd. More details will follow shortly.

A new trial beer has been put together to commemorate the final run of the Ffestiniog Railway's Hunslet locomotive "Blanche" on 1st March 2003 before it undergoes a major rebuild. The special ale is called "Old Boiler" and is 3.8% ABV.

This beer will be available on a special train on the Ffestiniog Railway on the evening of 1st March, and at Spooner's Bar, Harbour Station, Porthmadog, over the same weekend.

The remainder of this brew will be put out to regular Moor Beer Co. outlets.
